Thematic Painting Reflection. March 4, 2013
1. I thinking my lighting was done well because the painting looks as if it is really glowing.
2. I think I could have done better with time management because I did not complete it on time.
3. The theme is a abstract construct because the subject of this painting is a made up sci-fi esque machine.
4. I used mostly black and white shades. I also used some cool colors (blue/teal). I selected these colors because they fit my design that I had though up. It helped show emphasise of the blue colors, while the background is different shades of gray and somewhat dull.
5. The dark areas are the shaded areas of my background and my light area is the glowing of the lights.
6. I learned how to use washing to show glowing surfaces. I can use this technique in future projects to show other glowing objects and off source lighting.
7. I painted the background first, then I painting the main object in the center. I then put in the details of the object. Finally I added the glowing effects. I had both the design and techniques picked out before I started painting. The paint blended and dryed in different shades. by chance. (From not mixing some paints thouroughly on purpose)
8. Yes this is a worth while project. It took a lot of time and the final product was very rewarding. I think this project is excellent as is.
